Resource library

The library inside Canvas.

Frame, instrument, method: the three things every Canvas reading is built on. Plus the public artefacts that come with the subscription. Some entries open inline; others link out to public pages anyone can read.

How a reading is built
Library only

The frame

Five lenses on the same site, one scorecard for disclosability. Every pioneer reads against the same shape; every pioneer is comparable.

Read the frame

Five Elements. Every site is read across five lenses. They are independent enough to disagree and joint enough to triangulate.

  • Purpose · why the work exists; the strategic anchor and accountable officer
  • Place · the geography that has to absorb the change (a town, a corridor, a coastline)
  • Habitat · the ecological and infrastructural context in which the work lands
  • Environment · the regulatory, economic, and political weather around the site
  • Organisation · the actual partners, governance, and contracting that move money

Five-point disclosability scorecard. The thing a board can read at a glance.

  • Footprint named and operational (the INT(s) exist)
  • Multi-disciplinary team convened with named partners
  • Pooled BCF moving real money (not just intent)
  • Evidence published or in flight (case study, outcome book)
  • Accountable officer named in writing

Three sites are at full marks today. Most sit at three out of five. The whole field is moving.

The instrument

EQ-5D-5L universal anchor plus a domain measure. On-device. No patient data leaves the phone. Cohort signal aggregates locally.

Read the instrument

Two readings, one device.

  • EQ-5D-5L · the universal health-related quality-of-life anchor. Five questions, five levels. Comparable across every sector RiDraw reads.
  • Domain measure · added on top per sector. Patient Activation Measure for NNHIP. Stroke Impact Scale for clinical. WEMWBS for community.

Sovereignty by absence. Capture is on-device, on Apple HealthKit and Android Health Connect. Patient data never leaves the phone. The cohort signal aggregates locally on a RiDraw Mac. The bound A5 outcome book the ICB reads carries no PII.

Cohort, not census. Eight to twelve patients per pilot, twelve weeks, baseline plus closing read. Enough to see a delta; small enough to run.

The instrument is the same in every Canvas reading. The story it tells is per-site.

The method

How a reading is produced end to end: field reading, capture cohort, bound A5 outcome book, audit register, validators signed.

Read the method

From field to bound book in four weeks.

  • Week 1 · field reading. Five Elements applied. Stakeholder map, infrastructure pressures, evidence-readiness score, three-step pathway. PDF deliverable.
  • Week 2 · cohort baseline. Eight to twelve patients on the instrument. Twelve-week observation period begins.
  • Week 3 · evidence assembly. Audit register: every claim sourced and dated. Editorial validators (two doctors per cycle) read and sign.
  • Week 4 · bind and deliver. Bound A5 outcome book printed in five copies (ICB, CA, PCN, archive, RiDraw). Walk-through call within fifteen working days.

What the buyer gets. A document the board can cite, paste into a paper, or hand to a colleague without rewriting. Not slides. Not a PDF that opens once and dies. A bound A5 book that reads like a report from a publication of record.

The full method end-to-end is also covered in Issue 01 of the active thread, public.
